 | NONE TOO SOON
RELEASED IN U.S.
Allan's latest release, None Too Soon, previously available only in Japan on
Polydor KK, and in Europe on Cream Records, was released 9/24/96 on AH Records,
distributed by Restless Records. For those of you just tuning in, this is the project
with British bebop pianist Gordon Beck. Tribal Tech's rhythm section is also featured
-- Gary Willis, bass; Kirk Covington, drums. This album is quite a departure from
Allan's previous solo releases, being more in the "straight-ahead" jazz vein than
anything before it.

Allan is featured as a guest performer on several new and upcoming releases:
- Jens Johansson, Heavy Machinery, has been released on Heptagon,
and is now available. To order, check out Jens' Web page at
http://www.panix.com/~jens/ .
- neverwasneverwillbe, no title available. This is a new album project
recorded in late'96/early '97 featuring Allan as a full member of an updated progressive rock unit, featuring
the same core personnel from the SOMA project in which Allan participated (as a
guest on several tracks) in the mid-'80s. Allan is the featured soloist/guitarist
on the ten tracks so far recorded -- four of which date from an earlier session
recorded late in 1993.
Other personnel involved thusfar are Markam Gleed (keyboards, vocals), Guy Eckstine
(drums), and a bassist to be announced later. Bass and additional tracking is now underway (late January, '97), with other guest soloists
expected to participate, including Jerry Goodman (violin). According to Chris Hoard,
who has helped coordinate the production, it's "infectious, funky, pocket-groove metal and
acid new rage, and a major new showcase for Allan's rock sensibilities." Songwriter/Producer
Gleed puts it another way: "... kinda Mahavishnu-meets-Alice In Chains..."
- Gorky Park, no title available. No details available.
- Steve Hunt, no title available. Steve sent me e-mail to say that his first
solo CD was close to being finished, and that details would be forthcoming. Allan plays
guitar and SynthAxe on two cuts, and Skuli Sverrisson and Chad Wackerman also make guest
appearances on the upcoming CD.
Details are still somewhat sketchy, as you can see; keep watching here for news as it
becomes available.
