Allan has been involved in a number of projects which, due to circumstances beyond his control, resulted in recordings being released without his approval. There are also a few albums which he feels are not particularly relevant in the context of an "official" discography, and although I do not agree with him on all counts with regard to this, out of respect for Allan I have decided to honor his request that these items be omitted from the discography.

Over the years that I have initiated and undertaken the management of the Atavachron resources, I have, on more than one occasion, been accused of being a censor. This is because I have enforced a policy of not distributing contributions (or adding information to the Web site) which, in my opinion, might help others to gain access to works which Allan Holdsworth deemed inappropriate. I have a firm belief that there is nothing wrong in affording Allan this right, although he and I do not agree about the reasoning behind some of his requested omissions. I consider Allan, and most of the contributors to Atavachron, as friends. Much as I would try to maintain a semblence of objectivity, I have never wished to be a catalyst for perpetuating any action which would be perceived as harmful -- by either Allan Holdsworth, or the people who're using the Atavachron resources. I believe the policy, as enforced, meets those criteria, even if some may consider the results "unhelpful." I also have a firm belief that I have never been obligated to maintain Atavachron under any circumstances other than those with which I am completely comfortable.

If you don't agree with this philosophy, I have created a new forum where we can argue about this for as long as you like. Otherwise, please do not feel obligated to use the Atavachron resources, if you find them in any way inadequate in your study or enjoyment of Allan Holdsworth's work.
